Age-related macular degeneration ARMD is associated with a higher risk of myocardial infarction, according to a study at the Penn. State Univ. College of Medicine. Another study found that people with ARMD have a 11% higher risk for hip fractures. Smoking has been attributed to ARMD as a significant risk factor. Our office uses the latest technology in laser scanning tomography to determine macular degeneration.
